Nothing is going to happen unless we push for something to happen. The Republicans aren't going to do anything because
they would have to admit their on-going negligence. The Democrats aren't going to do anything because their only response
so far is "Elect more Democrats and we'll take care of everything." The Republicans want to keep the partisan advantage and
the power that they have now. The Democrats are seeking partisan advantage and aren't willing to risk the power they might
have in the future.
The most persuasive thing you can do is to send a hand-written letter. Next in impact is a phone call. Least effective
is sending an email. Contact all three of the House Officers below. In addition, you can contact the Member of the House for
your own district. You can look up your representative at http://www.house.gov (opens in a new window).
Here is our suggestion for the text of your letter but please feel free to put things in your own words. A sincere and personal plea for action can be very persuasive. Be calm.
Keep it simple. Make it direct. Keep it focused on the Valerie Plame Affair. Make sure you put your name and address on any
communication. Anonymous complaints get very little respect.
Here is the contact information for the three House officers; the Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert, the current Majority Leader John Boehner, and the
current Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.
You can also talk to your friends, family and co-workers. You can include a link to this website on your own site or in
a blog. You can add your comments to other people's blogs and include a link. Sometimes you can comment on news stories and
include a link. You can use email.
You can collect signatures on a petition and send that petition to your Representative and to these House Officers. Find a petition here. If you want to get involved personally with others in your area, go here.
